The process all starts with the dedicated fleet of independent lobstermen & women that have been fishing the cold Downeast waters for generations.
As the fishermen come into shore to unload their daily catch, our fleet of trucks are there at the docks to pick-up the daily lobster harvest fresh off the boats.
The lobsters are transported to our processing/storage facility in minutes. Here, the lobsters are immediately immersed in environmentally controlled, salt water tanks to ensure their optimum health.
Our crew of trained sorters then weigh & grade every lobster and separate them into multiple categories. They are then placed back in our tanks for safe keeping awaiting shipment.
Usually within 24 hours, the lobsters are repacked either in crates or boxes depending on their destination and customer preference. They are then immediately loaded onto our refrigerated trailers.
One of DC Air & Seafood's great advantage is our own fleet of refrigerated trucks. This gives us not only total control over the health of our lobsters during transport, but the ability to tailor our shipments to our client's wishes.
